Tobias Friedrich
“From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free.” -Jacques-Yves Cousteau
In his childhood Tobias Friedrich loved to watch the adventures of the Calypso with Jacques-Yves Cousteau as it's captain. Since this early experience he is fascinated by the beauty of the world what is below the ocean's surface. It's still an overwhelming feeling for him when he has the chance to dive. He loves the elegancy and calmness of the world under water standing in contrast to the hectic atmosphere above.
Since 2007, Tobias is taking pictures semi-professional. Some of his photos have been featured in international competitions and scuba diving magazines published his reportage's.
He is shooting with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II in a UK-GERMANY housing. His most used lenses under water are the Canon 17-40mm wideangle and the 100mm Canon macro lense. The pictures are lighted with two Ikelite DS-125 strobes that got some modifications from Mike-Dive and are positioned by ULCS strobe arms.
