Paul Hunter
Paul Hunter is rather a latecomer to the marine environment. He only started diving in 2000 and has since racked up hundreds of dives. He took his first camera underwater in 2002 and has not looked back since. He never enters the water these days without camera in hand. Paul was born and is based in South Africa. He is very passionate about diving and underwater photography.
Thanks to many he has gained valuable knowledge on photography and specifically underwater photography. All his images taken are to portrait the beauty under our oceans and to share his experiences with those who may not have the opportunity to breathe underwater. Paul has been lucky enough to dive both northern and southern Red sea, Sipadan, Bali, Wakatobi, Lembeh, Bunaken and most of the dives sites along the South African coast. 7 Mile reef, Sodwana Bay, South Africa is one of his favourites because of all the fish life, the awesome reef structure and the good chance of seeing manta, whale sharks and dolphin.
Paul and Cormac recently joined forces to establish AfricanDiver.com which is a free online magazine which focuses on diving, conservation, safety and destinations in and around Africa and its islands.
Paul has been the chairman of GUPS (Gauteng Underwater Photographic Society) and the chairman of the Sodwana shootout committee since 2007. The shootout is held annually at Sodwana Bay, South Africa and takes place over 3 days. This last year the shootout had 141 entrants making it one of the most successful events ever.
