Jennifer Sharp
Jennifer Sharp is an internationally published photographer currently living in San Pedro, Belize. Starting as primarily a scenic photographer, she has become an underwater photographer after moving to Belize. Growing up in Minnesota, she went to school for natural resource management. A vacation to Belize introduced her to warm water diving and her future husband. Now the two own an underwater photography business, photographing tourist while they dive. Jennifer has even branched out into other areas of photography including weddings and stock photos.
The diving in Belize has some amazing sites that offer Jennifer a variety of subjects; sharks, groupers and sponges are examples. One of Jennifer’s favourite sites is Tackle Box, with its swim troughs and deep canyons. Esmarelda is another of her favourites, were nurse sharks swim up to her like huge puppy dogs, and groupers follow her throughout dives. Of course the Blue Hole is also much-loved by Jennifer and her husband and the Lighthouse Reef Atoll, where the diving is more pristine with colourful walls and beautiful oddities like decorator crabs and tunicates.
Life in San Pedro is idyllic for Jennifer, and they don’t mind the occasional hurricane warning! The sleepy town that used to be an unknown hideaway has boomed into a bustling vacation destination. Along with tourist dollars, it concerns Jennifer and the rest of the community, how a small town will prevent damage to it’s reef.
