Underwater photography as I see it is a combination of art and hunting. The intense anticipating for the right moment, the racing heart beat when I notice the right occasion I'm waiting for and capturing the desired scene in the viewfinder, are all very similar to the hunting experience. The anticipation that each dive might enrich me with a new experience or a mesmerist encounter excites me anew every time.

I started photographing underwater with a camcorder in order to record my experiences in distinct and exotic sites. Cocos island, the Caribbean, the Maldives, the Similians in Thailand, Palau, Galapagos and Papua New Guinea are few of the sites I dived, but the Red Sea has always been my "home site".

In 2002 after purchasing my first digital camera, I started to use a stills camera underwater. Nowadays I use a reflex digital Nikon D300 in Seacam housing and two underwater Ikelite DS-125's strobes for lighting. My favorite is wide angel shoot which can best convey my feelings and experiences underwater. Macro shoots help me give a personal interpretation to an object or a scene. I try to challenge myself and "hunt" behavior scenes, which pumps tons of adrenaline and make me get of the water with a big smile on my face when I feel I captured something special. Recently I discovered the joy of Super Macro photography. I enjoy finding the tiny miniature critters and to fill the frame with one cm giant. On the last years I write columns about underwater photography, publish pictures and articles in diving and photography magazines, and won some nice prizes on major international underwater photography competitions.

Residing in Eilat-Israel, the northern part of the Red Sea, enables me to dive regularly, so I can fulfill my desire for diving and photography.
