Description:
The Great Blue Hole is the best known dive site in Belize, which became famous overnight following the legendary Jacques Cousteau's covering of it during his Calypso expedition. In the midst of the Lighthouse Reef, the Blue Hole is some 60 miles from the mainland, requiring an early morning departure for a day's diving adventure. The Great Blue Hole is amazing, nearly a perfect circle. It is 300 feet across and over 400 feet deep and ideal for coral formation. The Hole opens into a system of passages and caves to explore, where the water is motionless and visibility can reach up to 200 feet. Water temperature at 130 feet is approximately 76 degrees Fahrenheit, year round.Submitted by: admin on 2008-08-22 | Last Modified: 2009-03-24 | Views: 523 | Dive Site ID: 61093

Splendid
It's easy to see why this dive site is one of the world's most famous and most praised. It is really something from another world, had a great time diving it and can't wait to do it again in the future. Warm waters and some beautiful fish- that's the Caribbean for you!
