Description:
This is a very easy beginner dive. Before diving here, you will need permission since its located onside a Naval Base. This shallow shore entry leads to a beautiful sloping wall reef, covered in corals and teeming with marine life.Submitted by: Rynaldo on 2009-05-13 | Views: 359 | Dive Site ID: 69250

Gab Gab 1 - About as good as it gets
This location is as good as it gets. From the easy ladder entry to the showers 15 feet (5m) from the top of the ladder, the picnic tables, and parking just another 15 feet away. The 80 degree water temp and the 50+ foot visability make this a great experience for the novice and a joy for the experienced.
Once you enter the water, head straight out about 50 meters and you are ready to start your dive. There is a steeply sloped wall that drops down to about 100 ft, but there is no need to go that deep, as the entire wall is faced with coral, sponges, lots of marine life, such as turtles, puffer fish, etc., with an occasional huge 3+ ft across anemone. You can head either left or right along the wall. Left seemed to have a little more variety, but that is just my opinion. If you head straight out, you will hit Gab Gab 2.
Along with the great dive expeience, there is a protected area non-divers can snorkle around a large roped off area as well.
In addition to all of the diving amenities, there is a beach volley ball court, picnic tables and BBQs, and lots of friendly people. You may be able to find a better shore dive location, but when you add all of the other amenities, this location is about as good as it gets.
