The seas around Australia have an entire range of diving experiences to offer any diver. With 36,735 km (22,826 miles) of coastline, both the East and West coast change from sub-tropical to temperate, with a totally different spectrum of marine life where the two zones overlap.

Australia has superb scuba diving in the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef and Northern Western Australia and the Northern Territory, as well as brilliant temperate water diving in the South Australia and Tasmania. Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island offer both tropical and temperate marine life, as do the Solitary Islands off Northern New South Wales, Byron Bay close to the Queensland border, and the Abrolhos Islands on the west coast off Geraldton.
