Description:
Renate's Reef is situated in the Imperial Eagle channel. It includes plenty of invertebrate life forms in addition to a large amount of fish. A massive octopus, lingcod, strawberry anemones, wolf eels, rockfish, ratfish and plenty other multicolored beings live in the proximity of a massive apex which features a large flat top. This dive site is one of the most popular sites in and around the Barkley Sound.Submitted by: admin on 2008-08-22 | Last Modified: 2009-01-22 | Views: 219 | Dive Site ID: 60408

Abundance of colour and life
When I dove Renate's Reef recently I was struck again by the huge amount of life and colours. Especially the nudibranchs and the anemones are plentiful. We even had a starry skate which is a not so common species to see. The wolf eels were at their free swimming game. Where in other areas in BC you see rockfish in single or small schools, Barkley Sound still has those 100 plus schools of yellowtail rockfish and others. Plenty of Tiger rockfish and China rockfish in between the rocks. A truly great dive site.
