Netherlands Scuba Diving
199 Dive Sites in 12 Destinations
When you think about The Netherlands your mind probably first goes to clogs, windmills, bicycles, tulips and well then the unmentionables. But scuba diving probably isn't in your top 10 list of things that pop into your head.
Despite The Netherlands being a country recognized for it's culture and tourist attractions, there is actually a surprising amount of good scuba diving potential in The Netherlands. With over 20% of the country being located below sea level one can imagine finding water won't be a problem. The diving potentials extend from coastal diving to inland lake bodies and rivers.
The best diving in The Netherlands, without a doubt belongs to Zeeland where you can experience unbelievably vast amounts of marine life for a European country. Especially in Oosterschelde where scuba diving is very popular, the diving here has something very special to offer, during the months of Spring you will be able to encounter the breeding of cuttlefish in waters which hover in the mid teens. The cuttlefish here are known to be more approachable than most, and offers the best possible underwater photography potentials for The Netherlands, though don't be expecting clear waters, water visibility will still average around 2-4 meters for the most part.
