If you are someone who enjoys wreck dives, then Jutland, Denmark has exactly what you are looking for. These sunken ships are the result of a major battle between the German and English armies in World War I.

The battle that took place in Jutland, Denmark was a ferocious firefight that left several ships underwater. At this point it appears that each of the ships that were sunk has been located, and they are great spots that are highly attractive to divers. Many of these ships have been scrapped and lay in pieces over the ocean floor, while others mostly remain intact. These sites are some of the most exciting and challenging areas for divers to explore. However, this is not really a commercial diving location so it is certainly not recommended for beginners.

A great wreck site for scuba diving in Jutland is the HMS Indefatigable. This is an 18,750 ton battle cruiser that was actually the first ship that was sunk during the infamous battle. This is the largest of the wrecks in the area and was not recovered until 2000. The reason for this largely had to do with how much the ship had been salvaged over the years. These days there is very little left of the wreck to explore and the remains are scattered over wide stretches of area. This can be something of a disappointing dive due to the condition the ship is now in, but still important for those who enjoy learning about the history of the battle that took place here.
