Dominica is located between Guadeloupe and Martinique, and lies at the Northern end of the Lesser Antilles chain of islands. Volcanic in origin, Dominica is characterised by a rugged landscape that features large mountain peaks and volcanic vents which create hot underwater springs throughout the region. The underwater landscape of Dominica certainly mirrors the dramatic nature of the above and plunging walls, and stunning amounts of sponges and corals are abundant in the waters surrounding Dominica.

Scuba Diving in Dominica

The scuba diving in Dominica is split between the northern and southern regions, both of which are protected by large marine reserves. At the north end of Dominica is the Cabrits Marine Reserve, which was originally a part of the Cabrits National Park, but which is now a reserve in its own right. At present, the waters around the north of the island are still relatively undiscovered, and as such, it has escaped the impact of large numbers of divers being the water. As well as the reefs and drop offs, divers can venture through the various swim throughs and hot underwater vents, as well the numerous caves throughout the region.
