Description:
This site is located on the north side of Caracas Bay. It gets its name from the light beacon placed to warn off ships. It is more suitable to reach this site by boat, but if you are willing to take a 15 to 20 minutes swim, you can reach it from Lost Anchor. There reef wall starts at 6 meter dropping to more than 90 meters. The deeper you go the steeper the wall becomes. The best place to find big schools is where the current breaks. There is no protection from large waves in this area and with the underwater swells, only hard corals thrive in the shallow areas. You can see a variety of sponges and soft coral at about 15 meter and below. Keep a close eye on your depth. When the currents are string consider a drift dive to Jan Thiel Bay. Keep in mind that the currents are unpredictable here and can reverse direction at any time.Submitted by: LindieW on 2009-03-23 | Last Modified: 2009-03-29 | Views: 202 | Dive Site ID: 67233
