Barbados is situated on the eastern side of the Windward Islands, and is a relatively small island, measuring only 26 miles long by 14 miles across. Despite Barbados not being well known for its diving, there is actually some decent diving in the waters off Barbados, and whilst maybe not as plentiful as it Caribbean neighbours, there are certainly some high quality dive sites in these waters.
Barbados has some excellent reefs in its surrounding waters, and as they range from the shallower reefs down to over 50 metres, they are able to accommodate even the most experienced of divers. Dottins Reefs are shallow dives, which offer an excellent variety of marine life, whilst those seeking a more challenging dive tend to head for either Fisherman's Reef or Bright Lodge. These coral reefs, which are located 1-2 miles from shore are home to thousands of various organisms and marine life. Hawksbill Turtles, Sand Eels, Frog Fish and Sea Horse can all be found in the waters off Barbados.
