The Commonwealth nation of Antigua and Barbuda actually consists of Antigua, and two smaller islands of Barbuda and Redonda. During its illustrious history, these islands have been fought over by the French and the Spanish before eventually being won over by the British.
Both Antigua and Barbuda are entirely surrounded by coral reefs and shipwrecks, and whilst both islands have excellent diving opportunities, it is the multitudes of wrecks off the coasts of Barbuda that really catch the eye of most scuba divers. As is the way with the majority of the well developed islands in the Caribbean, the dive industry in Antigua is an organised one, and there are a good number of excellent dive operators on the island.
