Felidhu Atoll, located some 60 kilometres from Male, is one of the less developed regions of the Maldives, particularly when compared with the Male Atolls. However, it does have some exceptional scuba diving opportunities, and over the past few years has developed a reputation for containing some of the best diving to be found on the Maldives.
Felidhu Atoll itself is made up of a number of small islands, only five of which are actually inhabited, and along its south coast it contains the longest unbroken reef to be found anywhere in the Maldives. Felidhu Atoll, or Vaavu Atoll as it is also known is in fact comprised of two atolls, the main Vaavu Atoll, and to the south of the main group, the smaller Vattaru Atoll.
