The Perhentian Islands, located approximately 20 kilometres off the Terengganu coast in the north east of Peninsula Malaysia, and can only be described as a true tropical paradise. These two islands, Pulau Perhentian Besar and Pulau Perhentian Kecil, with their palm fringed white sand beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters are indeed a scuba divers dream.
The scuba diving in the Perhentian Islands is exceptionally good, and as such a large number of people who make the boat journey over from the mainland, do so to sample some of the fantastic dive sites of the Perhentian Islands. The close proximity of the islands to the Thailand border, means that a large number of backpackers travel to the Perhentian Islands, having only just taken their first steps in the popular dive resorts of Koh Tao, Koh Phi Phi and Phuket.
