Komodo National Park is primarily known as the sole home of the protected and fascinating Komodo dragon. Visitors come to see the wildlife refuge, witness the Komodo dragons, and see Indonesia in its natural beauty.
Many others, however, come to scuba dive in the clear waters around Komodo National Park. Komodo National Park is in Indonesia, sandwiched between Flores and Sumbawa. Komodo National Park is made up of Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar.
Minimal and rustic tourist facilities are available in the area. Live aboard cruises are available from major ports in Flores and Sumbawa, thus allowing for convenient and comfortable accommodations, if you are considering a diving vacation. Komodo is rapidly growing in popularity as a scuba dive location due to varied underwater ecology and excellent coral reefs. There is a massive amount of biodiversity in the waters around Komodo National Park, and you may see whale sharks, sunfish, mantas, and blue ringed octopus in the stunning reefs. Both shallow and deep water diving is available in the waters around Komodo National Park, and these protected waters have been spared the damage seen to the reefs in many areas of Indonesia.
