Description:

This bay (known as Secret Bay) is situated about 3 and a half hours from Kuta in a small bay known as Teluk Gilimanuk (this is where the ferries coming from Java dock). Secret Bay is approximately 2 kilometers across, is very shallow (predominantly around 5 meters deep) and contains two small islands. Gilimanuk Bay is the only place off Bali Strait where the current can reach 7 knots, which means it can act as a 'catch tank' for various larval fish and plankton which get swept between Java and Bali. This spot is great for photography as one can see dragonets, gobies, nudibranchs, seahorses, juvenile Batavia batfish and many others. It is preferable to dive this site is on an incoming high tide, regardless of the time of the day. Night diving at Secret Bay is also wonderful. This site is shallow and lacks rich coral growth. The water is usually cold and visibility is often bad because of the dark mud and sand bottom.
