Borneo Dream - a real good diving deal!
Before diving with Borneo Dream, my idea of a dive boat is the ones I would normally see in the local jetty. Beat up and filled up with tanks and gears in wet baskets.
So when I first boarded Borneo Dream 3, I pretended to be nonchalant about how I was in awe of the boat. GPS, radio, changing cabin, toilet, fresh water shower and refreshments! Towels were also provided. The gears I had was decent too. The first thing that I had to check was the fins. I got a broken rental fins for my dive in Tulamben, 2 hours away from the dive center-so no replacement fins available. I noticed some fins stored at the back of the cabin so that was a relief. Oh, I'm a big fan of Nudiebranch so seeing a Neville Coleman's on the many selection on their mini library was nice. They were not kidding when they said they are the nicest diving day boat in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah!
The boat ride from the jetty to the nearby TARP island was great with a deck on the boat. Pre-dive briefing was done and you're ushered to your spot where they have prepared the gears for you. When I was booked to go for the dive few days earlier, I was asked to fill up the equipment forms online. I really appreciate that as it means I don't have to wait around for my gears to be put together. It can be annoying to have people wait for you to put your gears on while they're all kitted up. Yes, I can be slow!
There were six of us divers in total for that day. So we had 2 guides. One led the way and the other was coming from the back. Lets just say, I was not worried one bit (new diver alert!) as I know I well taken care of. The dive was excellent (not rushed or left behind). The crew were accommodating and funny (a plus!). It must be the free hot choc they serve on the boat?
Lunch was in one of the nearby island. Surprisingly good! Overall, everyone had a good time that I'm surprised its the other divers first time diving with Borneo Dream. This review is from my first experience diving with Borneo Dream. I've done 4 boat dives with them now. Looking forward to April for a ride on their RIB for the wrecks!
Until next time! Thanks Dream Team!
