Medicine of Diving Seminar 2010
Medicine of Diving is a 23-hour CME activity located at The Plaza Resort on Bonaire in the Netherlands Antilles. Bonaire is one of the most popular dive destinations. It offers consistently good diving at over 80 dive sites on well-preserved reefs. Diving is with TOUCAN DIVERS where the dive boats are reserved exclusively for our group. Our hotel is the PLAZA RESORT, located on twelve landscaped acres with a gorgeous long white sand beach. The Medicine of Diving course will allow you the opportunity for an excellent CME program while on a relaxing dive vacation.
Participants should arrive in Bonaire on Saturday (January 30). Upon arrival participants will check in and have a special registration to set up the diving program. Sunday through Thursday you will have academic activities each morning and two tank boat dives each afternoon. On Friday, you will have a one tank boat dive in the morning and course completion and exam in the afternoon. This is to allow plenty of time between your last dive and the departure flight. Breakfast will be provided each morning (Sunday-Saturday) and lunch will be provided (Sunday-Friday), as part of your package. On Sunday evening, you are invited to mingle and meet the other participants and faculty at the Welcome Cocktail Party and dinner. On Friday, we will gather as a group one last time for our Farewell Cocktail Party and dinner.
Objectives
The popularity of recreational scuba diving is increasing. This has resulted in a corresponding increase in scuba diving accidents and a need for physician consultation in support of recreational divers. The Medicine of Diving course is designed to give physicians, especially those physicians who dive, a background in the unique aspects of diving medicine, the treatment of medical diving emergencies and the tools to evaluate a diver's fitness to dive.
