Diving Belize By Cruise Ship - Everything Need To Know
by Gaz Cooper
So you want to Dive Belize and you are visiting Belize on a cruise ship? so what options do you have for cruise ship diving in Belize.
Well when you visit Belize by cruise ship you have 2 dive options for diving from a cruise Ship, one is using the ships operator, who are excellent, and the other is by using a smaller operator who is located In Belize City. The smaller shop offers a more personal service to visiting Belize divers, and with a maximum of 8 divers on a boat only. In comparison the Belize cruise ship dive operator, puts many more divers on their boats, so it really depends on if you don't mind diving with lots of other divers, or you prefer a smaller more personal group. Both Belize cruise ship diving operators are excellent and offer the visiting diver a quality diving experience when visiting Belize.

The Belize diving offered is long the Belize Barrier Reef and there are some excellent dive sites located just 30 minutes from shore, such as The Lounge, Jr Wall, The Big One or Chub change to name just a few favorite dive sites. These sites offer the visiting diver some excellent choices, based on the time they will be in Belize.
The diving is very nice and very well received by past visiting divers, however please consider visiting Belize for a longer duration and dive Belize the right way. Belize has such fantastic diving that you just cannot justify diving Belize form a cruise ship in just one day, Belize diving has so much more to offer.
When departing from Belize City your trip out to the Belize Barrier Reef takes around 30 minutes to get out to the diving locations and along the way you have a very good chance of seeing Manatees or Dolphins on the ride out to the reef,
Some things you are likely to see during your 2 dives will be Moray eels, Sharks, Turtles, and lots of tropical fish plus maybe even a Manta Ray or two.
After your first dive you will have lunch on a little island which is included in the price, also included are soft drinks, water, fresh fruit etc. The Belize cruise ship, dive trip takes about 5 hours and at the end of the trip the dive boat will drop you off right at your cruise ship, rather that having to go back into the city to catch a tender which divers really appreciate after a days diving in Belize.
If you need equipment rental it is available for the day, the shops always recommend you having at least your own mask, fins and snorkel as nobody likes having to put a snorkel in their mouth that has been in hundreds of other peoples mouths before plus they are so cheap that it is worth buying your own and taking them with you. If you have kids it is even cheaper to get them there own set rather than renting in each cruise ship location you visit,
Diving Belize from a Cruise ship is not the best way to dive Belize but for one days diving on a short trip to Belize you will get 2 great dives, and it will for sure wet your appetite and encourage you to come back for a longer trip and really dive Belize the way Belize should be dove.
