Are you interested in diving with children? When you are a parent that wants to go SCUBA diving but you have children and are not sure whether you should take them along or simply invest in child sitting it can be a difficult choice. The following will discuss each aspect of the matter in order to help influence you to make the best decision for you and your kids. Many SCUBA instructors these days simply do not like to teach children how to dive and do not recommend diving with children. For the most part this has to do with the fact that this is a dangerous sport with a lot of risks involved.

Children are not always equipped mentally and emotionally for this type of activity and this can lead to a lot of problems. Not to mention that these instructors know that there are a lot of greedy people out there that would be more than happy to present them with a lawsuit should something go wrong during the training.

On the other hand, there are instructors out there that think that diving with children is an excellent idea and recommend the process whole heartedly. For example, groups such as the YMCA and PADI have special instructional programs available for children as young as 8 years old. There are also many SCUBA diving resorts that offer similar diving courses that will not only help them to improve their swimming and snorkeling, but will teach them about how basic SCUBA equipment works and help them to get in touch with ocean life. This provides the whole family with the ability to enjoy a fun activity together.

Ultimately, the choice of whether or not to go diving with kids is up to you. Make sure that you do research on both side of the issue in order to make the best decision. One of the areas where this question poses the most difficulty is when parents participate in live aboard diving cruises and are not sure whether they should take their children along or simply hire child sitting services to take care of them while they are onboard. On the positive side, many live aboard cruises do offer plenty of fun activities for children, so parents can take them along when they wish.

As you can see, whether or not you should go diving with children can be a difficult decision, but when you do the proper research ahead of time you will know what is best for you and your family. Fortunately, these days there are more diving programs available than ever before so you can still find fun activities for your kids to do while you are diving with the other adults. There’s no need for this problem to prevent you from taking part in this exciting hobby.
